Five Six Tambo is an inclusive arts venue where individuals from all backgrounds, abilities and identities can express themselves creatively. Powered by a socialist co-operative, we provide a platform for diverse stories, perspectives and talents through various art forms, including painting, sculpture, music, dance, theatre, literature and film. Meet our crew here.
If you want to work with us, use our resources or use our venue, you can fill in this co-act form here. We believe in the power of collaboration and mutual aid, so if you have any ideas, we would like to hear them and see how we can work together.
The Almanac, which you can find here, lists the roster of all club activities for the entire year, most of which are free to attend. This is updated from time to time, but already lists events until December 2024. You can download our calendar or subscribe it to your calendar (Google, Outlook, iCalendar etc.). We make the Almanac so you know about all our upcoming activities in advance.
The Bulletin, which you can sign up for here, is a regular newsletter with updates from 56 Tambo. We ensure it respects South Africa’s data privacy laws and that the information is useful. We make the Bulletin so you have complete information on our activities, but also feel free to email us via contact@56tambo.co.za orĀ WhatsApp us at +27 676 713 718 to get in touch.
Our atmosphere is open and respectful, valuing the dignity, autonomy, and diversity of every person. The programming is curated to foster a sense of community and belonging, with symposia and exhibitions that represent a range of cultures and artistic styles. We also offer educational and outreach programs that engage with diverse communities, highlighting the importance of arts in promoting social justice and equity. Five Six celebrates the richness of human experience and the power of creativity to inspire and unite us.
