56 Tambo is a dynamic youth center located in the heart of Bloemfontein, South Africa. We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and innovative space for young individuals to explore their passions, develop new skills, and connect with like-minded peers.
Our center offers a wide range of activities, including art exhibitions, live performances, workshops, and community events, all designed to inspire creativity and foster personal growth. At 56 Tambo, we believe in empowering the youth to reach their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities.
56 Tambo is running an amazing tech campaign that has reached over 1 000 youth in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Well, it's not exactly free internet, but it's close enough!
We set up servers on our community network so that people can access resources offline, like Wikipedia, books, podcasts, and web applications. People on the network can also call, message, and share files without needing any airtime or data! The only cost is keeping our servers online—oh and getting more servers.
That's where you come in. You can power our community network by donating your old technology (i.e. laptops, monitors, keyboards, routers etc.) so we can re-use them as servers for our network. It's as simple as that! It does not matter how old or beaten up they are—we can bring them back to life.
Look, donating your old technology will also reduce tech waste, re-using technology for community education, communication, and digital skills. What more could you ask for?
Well, think about it. We're always ready. And even if you don't have any old tech, share this information with everyone you know. They might have some old tech. We'll gladly take it off their hands.
While we can't make the entire internet free. We've got the next best thing. And because of you, it could become even better! See our contact details on the website to get in touch.
